AMS and Feeder Spool Dimensions by Brand
Updated September 22, 2026
Feeders like Bambu Lab's AMS accept a range of spool widths and diameters, not one exact number. Here's what's directly documented, by exact feeder model, and where SpoolNook still has gaps.
Bambu Lab AMS
| Feeder | Supported spool width | Supported spool diameter |
|---|---|---|
| AMS (original) | 50-68 mm | 197-202 mm |
| AMS Lite | 50-68 mm (provisional - see note) | 197-202 mm (provisional - see note) |
The AMS figures come from Bambu Lab's own "Notes for AMS" wiki page. A direct fetch of that page returned an HTTP 402 error during this review, so the numbers above were read from a search-engine snippet quoting the page rather than a freshly rendered copy - flagged for direct re-verification. The AMS Lite row reuses the same range; SpoolNook has not independently retrieved an AMS-Lite-specific tolerance from Bambu Lab, so treat that row as provisional.
Spools that fall inside the AMS range
Bambu Lab's own reusable spool (~200 mm diameter, ~67 mm width per third-party retailer sizing guides) and SUNLU's Gen 3 reusable spool (~200 mm diameter per SUNLU's own materials) both fall within the documented AMS tolerance. SUNLU's Gen 2 spool is reported in community discussion at roughly 195 mm diameter - below the AMS's 197 mm minimum - which is consistent with the fitment problems some users report, though that figure itself is community-sourced rather than a SUNLU spec. See SUNLU Gen 2 vs. Gen 3 for the full picture.
Research gaps
SpoolNook has not yet found feeder-specific spool tolerance documentation (as opposed to general spool dimensions) for eSUN, Polymaker, or Prusament equivalents to Bambu's AMS notes. These brands' filament is broadly reported to work in AMS-style feeders when the spool itself falls inside the AMS range above, but SpoolNook has not confirmed a brand-published tolerance for a feeder of their own. These pairings are intentionally left off the checker rather than published with guessed numbers - see How We Verify.
Check your exact feeder
Use the compatibility checker and select your exact feeder model alongside your spool to see whether that specific pairing is documented.
