Does a Bambu Lab Refill Fit a SUNLU Gen 2 Spool?
Updated September 22, 2026
Not verified for the current SUNLU Gen 3 spool, and mismatch-documented for SUNLU's older Gen 1/Gen 2 spools, which aren't designed to accept any refill coil. A SUNLU refill being documented to fit a Bambu Lab spool (see that article) does not prove the reverse - and this page exists specifically to show why that assumption doesn't hold.
Why this isn't the same question
Compatibility between two spool systems is directional. SUNLU, as the refill's manufacturer, has published that its refill fits a Bambu Lab spool. Neither SUNLU nor Bambu Lab has published the reverse claim - that a Bambu Lab refill fits a SUNLU spool - so SpoolNook cannot mark it as documented just because the other direction is.
The documented result
Does the refill physically fit the spool?
Bambu Lab Filament Refill → SUNLU Reusable Spool (Gen 3 (2025))
No manufacturer documentation confirms this direction yet; community reports describe it working, which is not the same as documented proof.
A Bambu Lab Community Forum thread reports that SUNLU's Gen 3 spool works with Bambu Lab refills "out of the box." Both products are described elsewhere as using a roughly 55 mm hub, which makes a fit plausible, but neither Bambu Lab nor SUNLU has published a statement confirming this specific direction.

| Spool | Bambu refill fits? | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| SUNLU Reusable Spool, Gen 3 (2025-) | Not verified | Community forum reports only ("works out of the box"); no manufacturer statement found |
| SUNLU Reusable Spool, Gen 1 / Gen 2 | Mismatch documented | Neither generation is designed to accept a refill coil at all, regardless of brand - see SUNLU Gen 2 vs. Gen 3 |
What would resolve this
A statement from Bambu Lab or SUNLU confirming the fit, or a documented, repeatable measurement comparison of the Bambu refill's core against the SUNLU Gen 3 hub, would be enough to upgrade this from "Not verified" to a documented verdict. Until then, SpoolNook is treating the forum reports as a useful signal, not proof.
